Emitter-Coupled Logic

2 Column CSS Layout - concise design

Emitter-Coupled Logic:

ECL Circuit:

It consist of two transistor connected in different single ended input mode with a common emitter resistence.

The circuit has two outputs inverting and non inverting output.

Input LOW and HIGH voltage are defined as 3.6 v and 4.4 v and it produce output LOW and HIGH levels as 4.2v and 5.0v.

Advantages;

It is fastest logic family.

Large fan-out.

Less switching transient (Power supply is more stable)

Transistor are not allowed to go into complete saturation and eliminating storage delays.

Disadvantage:

Low nise immunity

High power dissipation.
